RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Air Force is preparing the Angkasa Yudha 2026 exercise with more realistic, adaptive, and integrated scenarios to address the evolving threats of modern warfare, ranging from drone attacks, precision missiles, to cyber warfare.
The readiness became a point of attention for the Chief of Air Force Staff, Air Marshal M. Tonny Harjono, when receiving the presentation of the Outline Plan (RGB) for the Angkasa Yudha 2026 Exercise, delivered by the Commander of Training and Education Command of Air Force, Vice Marshal Age Wiraksono, at the Headquarters, East Jakarta, Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
Based on the press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the Air Force Chief of Staff explained that the Angkasa Yudha 2026 Exercise will be combined with the TNI Joint Exercise to strengthen inter-service interoperability while also testing air operation capabilities more comprehensively in a modern warfare scenario.
According to , the nature of threats today has undergone significant changes. Threats no longer come solely from conventional air battles, but also thru the use of unmanned aerial vehicles, precision missiles, and cyber attacks that can affect the effectiveness of military operations.
Therefore, the Air Force Chief of Staff, emphasized that training scenarios should be designed as closely as possible to real conditions in the field of operations, including accommodating various worst-case possibilities that may occur during task execution.
"The threat of unmanned aerial vehicles must also start to be accommodated more conceptually in training scenarios," Tonny said.
In addition to the threat of drones, strengthening cyber defense elements is also a concern for the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) to measure personnel readiness in facing the ever-evolving digital threats that are increasingly integrated into modern warfare patterns.
The Air Force Chief of Staff requested that the evaluation results of the previous Angkasa Yudha Exercise be used as a foundation to refine the concept and implementation of future exercises. Thus, the exercises would not only become a routine but would also significantly enhance the operational readiness of the Indonesian Air Force.
At the end of his address, Tonny emphasized the importance of making flight and operational safety aspects the top priority. He hopes that the Angkasa Yudha 2026 exercise can serve as a platform for implementing the latest doctrine of the Indonesian Air Force, Swa Bhuwana Paksa.
Thru increasingly realistic and integrated training, the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) strives to strengthen national air operation readiness in facing the dynamics of modern threats while maintaining Indonesia's air sovereignty.
