Jupiter Aerobatic Team Departing for Brunei to Perform RBAF Anniversary

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Forces Air Force (TNI AU) thru the Jupiter Aerobatic Team (JAT) officially departed from the TNI Air Force Base Adisutjipto, Yogyakarta, to participate in the 65th Anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) on Monday, May 25, 2026.
Based on the press release received by RRI Voice of Indonesia on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, the participation of the Jupiter Aerobatic Team not only carries out an aerial demonstration mission but also strengthens the friendship and defense cooperation between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.
As ambassadors of the nation in the air, JAT showcases the skills and professionalism of TNI AU pilots while also representing the close bilateral relations between the two countries. The presence of the team at the 65th anniversary celebration of the RBAF became a symbol of the ongoing good defense diplomacy between Indonesia and Brunei Darussalam.

On their journey to Brunei Darussalam, the Jupiter Aerobatic Team took a gradual flight route. After transiting at Muljono Air Force Base, the team continued their flight to Sjamsudin Noor Air Force Base. Before arriving in Brunei Darussalam, the group was also scheduled to stop at Lanud Dhomber and Lanud Anang Busra.
The commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces will take place on May 31, 2026. On that occasion, the Jupiter Aerobatic Team deployed seven KT-1B Woong Bee aircraft to showcase an aerial display that is a source of pride for the Indonesian Air Force on an international level.
History of the Jupiter Aerobatic Team The Jupiter Aerobatic Team is an aerobatic team of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI AU) that operates under Squadron 102 Training Wing, Adisutjipto Air Force Base. The team was first formed in 1996 using four Hawk MK-53 aircraft.
The name "Jupiter" itself comes from the call sign of the TNI AU flight instructors, which is an abbreviation for "Juru Pilih Terbang." All members of JAT are active flight instructors of the TNI AU.
After being inactive in 2002, the Jupiter Aerobatic Team became active again in 2008 using eight KT-1B Woong Bee training aircraft made in South Korea, painted red and white as Indonesia's national identity.
JAT's first public performance took place on October 5, 1997, during the 52nd anniversary of the Indonesian National Armed Forces at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base. The team then performed at various national and international aerospace events, showcasing a variety of aerobatic maneuvers, such as the diamond kid roll, rocket in view, aileron roll, crossover break, and dynamite break.
