RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian Migrant Workers Protection Agency (KP2MI/BP2MI) is collaborating with the National Legal Guidance Agency (BPHN) to promote transparent and integrated governance of migrant worker protection through stronger regulations.
In a meeting on May 26, 2026, in Jakarta, the two institutions discussed strategic agendas including the Legal Reform Index (IRH) assessment, the Legal Documentation and Information Network (JDIH), regulatory analysis, legal counseling, and public input.
Head of the Legal Bureau at KP2MI/BP2MI, Wahyudi, said the partnership is vital to strengthening the ministry’s legal guidance system and ensuring comprehensive protection for Indonesian migrant workers.
“Stronger legal guidance at KP2MI/BP2MI, thanks to synergy with BPHN, will enhance protection for Indonesian migrant workers,” Wahyudi said, as quoted on the ministry’s website.
One key agenda was BPHN’s support in collecting data for the IRH assessment, which will help KP2MI/BP2MI meet legal reform indicators.
Both institutions also agreed to strengthen the JDIH, which serves as a central hub for orderly, integrated, and sustainable legal information. The network is considered crucial for policy transparency within KP2MI/BP2MI.
Machyudie, Head of the Legal Literacy Service Center and National JDIH Development Center at BPHN, reaffirmed the agency’s commitment.
“BPHN is ready to support KP2MI/BP2MI through mentoring and capacity building in legal reform and JDIH management to optimize services and protection for Indonesian migrant workers,” he said.
The meeting also discussed follow-up actions under the Cooperation Agreement, focusing on strengthening legal development to protect migrant workers.
Wahyudi hopes that the collaboration will improve governance, enhance legal development, and deepen legal understanding among stakeholders. ***
