RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government has urged people to implement “Eco Qurban” during the celebration of Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijri. This concept underscored environmentally friendly animal sacrifice practices, carried out with attention to environmental protection and management principles at slaughtering sites.

In a statement on Tuesday, Commission E Chair of the Jakarta Regional House of Representatives, M. Subki urged hygienic slaughtering practices to maintain cleanliness and prevent health issues. He also reminded qurban committees to reduce single-use packaging and prioritize eco-friendly containers to minimize plastic waste generation.

As quoted by Jakarta Environmental Agency Instagram @dinaslhdki, the management of sacrificial animal waste is not only about maintaining cleanliness after slaughtering. It is also an important effort in preventing pollution and supporting sustainable environmental protection efforts in Jakarta.

The Guidelines for the Implementation of Animal Sacrifice Slaughtering are regulated under Jakarta Governor Regulation No. 30 of 2025. Slaughter areas, handling of blood and liquid waste, use of septic tanks, and management of solid waste are regulated to ensure hygienic, safe, and orderly sacrificial processes.

Measures include separating clean areas from waste areas, providing blood collection pits, prohibiting direct disposal of waste into public drains, and using eco-friendly containers. All of these are important steps to minimize environmental impacts during the qurban process.

These efforts reflect Jakarta’s commitment to sustainable urban management and environmental responsibility during religious and community activities. The initiative encourages collaboration between government, communities, and committees to ensure clean, safe, and sustainable qurban practices.

Even the smallest actions can create a significant difference in keeping the city clean. Together people can make qurban practices in Jakarta cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable for a more comfortable city for everyone.
