RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, handed over 23 sacrificial cows ahead of the Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah celebration in Jakarta on Tuesday May 26, 2026. The initiative involved contributions from multiple departments within the Ministry of Culture as part of its annual tradition.

Speaking during the event, Fadli Zon said Eid al-Adha is not only a religious observance but also a moment to strengthen social solidarity within society. “The commemoration of Eid al-Adha carries values of sacrifice, sincerity, tolerance, and social solidarity,” he said.

He added that such values have long been embedded in Indonesian culture and continue to shape community life today. According to him, the tradition also serves as a reminder to support those in need through mutual cooperation and compassion.

“The most important part is how these cultural values remain deeply rooted in our society,” Fadli Zon stated. He noted that the spirit of helping one another is essential in facing various social challenges.

Fadli Zon explained that the sacrificial meat would be distributed to eligible recipients, particularly underprivileged communities and other beneficiaries. He expressed hope that more people would be able to celebrate Eid al-Adha together through the distribution program.

He also thanked all employees and working units within the Ministry of Culture for contributing to this year’s qurban collection. “We have managed to gather around 23 cows, just as we did last year, and we hope this can continue as a meaningful tradition,” he said.

Eid al-Adha 1447 Hijriah will be observed on May 27, 2026, by Muslims around the world. In Indonesia, the celebration is closely associated with charitable giving and community solidarity.

As the country with the world’s largest Muslim population, Indonesia combines religious observance with strong social and cultural traditions during Eid al-Adha. The Ministry of Culture said the annual qurban initiative reflects Indonesia’s enduring values of tolerance, togetherness, and mutual care.
