RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The government is accelerating post‑disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in several affected regions of Indonesia, following the successful completion of emergency response and transition phases.
Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said the effort has now entered the permanent recovery stage, carried out through rehabilitation and reconstruction programs.
“We are entering the recovery phase. The key lies in rehabilitation and reconstruction programs designed with regional administrations, ministries, and institutions,” Minister Tito said at the Parliament Complex in Jakarta on Monday, May 25, 2026.
He explained that since January 24, ministries, institutions, and regional administrations have worked to speed up recovery in disaster‑hit areas. Several basic services have been restored, including regional governance, electricity, fuel, internet, hospitals, and community health centers.
Access problems remain in some areas due to landslides, particularly in Central Aceh and other remote regions.
National roads have reportedly been reconnected, while several bridges are functioning with temporary structures such as Bailey bridges.
In the education sector, teaching and learning activities have resumed. Most of the 4,922 affected schools are operating normally, though some in red zones continue to use emergency classrooms or borrow facilities from other schools while awaiting relocation.
The government has recorded 11,512 rehabilitation and reconstruction programs to be implemented over three years, including the construction of roads, bridges, schools, and other public facilities.
These programs are divided into priority categories, with the main focus on basic infrastructure development in 2026.
To support accelerated recovery, the government approved a budget of IDR 100.1 trillion for 2026–2028, including IDR 38.9 trillion in 2026, IDR 32.9 trillion in 2027, and IDR 28.2 trillion in 2028.
Most of the budget, around IDR 69 trillion, will be allocated to infrastructure. The government also aims to raise an additional IDR 4.5 trillion by 2027.
This funding will support the accelerated rehabilitation and reconstruction process in disaster‑affected areas. The government pledged to maintain periodic coordination to ensure all recovery programs are completed on schedule. (Misni Parjiati)
