RRI.CO.ID, Pamekasan - The peak celebration of National Education Day 2026 in Pamekasan, East Java, drew thousands of students in a large-scale event promoting healthy lifestyles and character education. The celebration culminated in a record-breaking mass exercise session involving 24,000 students at Gelora Madura Ratu Pamelingan Stadium on Sunday May 24, 2026.

The Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Abdul Mu'ti, attended the event and joined students in performing the “Senam Anak Indonesia Hebat” or Great Indonesian Children Exercise. The activity successfully earned recognition from the Indonesian World Records Museum (MURI) for the largest mass participation in the program.

He praised the East Java Provincial Government and the Pamekasan Regency Government for their commitment to strengthening the education sector. He said the record-breaking event reflected broad public participation in supporting equal access to quality education.

“We appreciate the commitment of the East Java Provincial Government and the Pamekasan Regency Government in advancing education. This MURI record is clear evidence of collective participation in realizing quality education for all in East Java,” Mu’ti said during the event.

The minister also highlighted the government’s efforts to improve educational quality through school revitalization and learning digitalization programs. In addition, the ministry continues to promote character-building initiatives through the Seven Habits of Great Indonesian Children program.

“If we want to build the nation’s civilization, it must begin with building good habits. Therefore, practice the seven positive habits so that future generations can become great Indonesians and contribute to a better Pamekasan,” he said.

Pamekasan Regent Kholilurrahman, described the event as a source of pride for the region, which is widely known for its strong educational traditions. He noted that the regency currently has around 500 educational institutions that play an important role in shaping the character of young people.

“Education is not only a means of transferring knowledge, but also a platform for building civilization, character, and discipline. This exercise program is in line with our efforts to create healthy, intelligent, and competitive human resources,” Kholilurrahman said.

Senior Manager of MURI Triyono also praised the large-scale initiative organized by the ministry and the Pamekasan administration. He described the event as more than just a mass exercise activity, calling it a symbol of unity, discipline, and healthy living for Indonesia’s younger generation.
