Indonesia, Azerbaijan Boosts Investment and Human Capital Ties

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Bilateral relations between Indonesia and Azerbaijan continue to strengthen across various strategic sectors. The momentum was highlighted during the celebration of Azerbaijan’s 108th Independence Day in Jakarta on Thursday May 21, 2026.
The commemoration served as an opportunity for both countries to reaffirm their commitment to broader cooperation. The partnership is focused on investment, education, manpower, and human resource development.
Ambassador of Azerbaijan to Indonesia, Ramil Rzayev Abil Oglu, said Azerbaijan is opening wider investment opportunities for Indonesia. The opportunities are mainly located in the regions of Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, which are currently undergoing post-conflict development.
Ramil Rzayev conveyed the regions hold significant potential for Indonesian companies across strategic sectors. “The liberated regions of Karabakh and eastern Zanzibar are now open to international investment,” he said during his remarks.
He added that the Azerbaijani government is developing modern industrial parks, agro-parks, and smart villages in the area. “These areas offer vast potential for Indonesian companies,” he stated.
Beyond investment, Azerbaijan also views education and cultural exchange as important pillars of bilateral relations. Ramil noted that cooperation between Indonesia and Azerbaijan has continued to expand since diplomatic ties were established in 1992.
Meanwhile, Minister of Manpower Yassierli, said Indonesia welcomes stronger strategic cooperation with Azerbaijan. The partnership includes strengthening social security systems and developing youth workforce skills.
“Indonesia welcomes closer cooperation with Azerbaijan in strategic areas, including strengthening social security systems, vocational education and training,” Yassierli said. He emphasized the importance of preparing a resilient, adaptive, and globally competitive workforce amid evolving global economic dynamics.
