RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s creative economy is expanding into the automotive sector. The industry is considered to have strong potential to connect communities, creators, technology, art, and lifestyle within a single ecosystem capable of generating real economic impact.

The Ministry of Creative Economy is encouraging collaboration with The Elite Indonesia to strengthen this ecosystem, particularly in automotive modification. Community members are also encouraged to expand international networks for the modification industry and the Indonesian automotive community.

“The creative economy is not just about products and works, but also about creating experiences and collaborations, including with the automotive community,” said Deputy Minister of Creative Economy and Deputy Head of the Creative Economy Agency (Ekraf), Irene Umar, during a meeting with The Elite Indonesia CEO, Gatot Mulyartho, at the ministry’s office on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, as reported on the ministry’s official website.

She emphasized the importance of synergy across sub-sectors to enable Indonesian automotive events to grow into international creative platforms. Irene hopes automotive exhibitions will become collaborative spaces for photographers, designers, content creators, artists, and even game and technology enthusiasts.

“The Ministry of Creative Economy wants Indonesian automotive events to develop into inclusive and internationally recognized creative platforms,” she added.

The Elite Indonesia is known as a hub for two-wheeled and four-wheeled communities that promote the national modification industry. The group previously organized The Elite Showcase, an annual modification exhibition featuring diverse activities, which last weekend included the presence of actor and international automotive enthusiast Sung Kang.

During the meeting, The Elite Indonesia outlined plans to expand its creative automotive event internationally, including participation in Japan’s Tokyo Auto Salon next year. Beyond showcasing modified vehicles, the group intends to highlight Indonesia’s creative identity through design, architecture, and supporting products for the automotive industry.

“We plan to introduce The Elite Indonesia at the world-renowned Tokyo Auto Salon next year,” said Gatot Mulyartho. He hopes that collaboration between the automotive industry and other creative sub-sectors, such as photography and MSMEs, can be further expanded in 2027. ***
