RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government reported that beneficiaries of the Free Nutritional Meal Program (MBG) had reached 61.99 million people as of May 12, 2026. This figure represents 74.8 percent of the national target of 82.9 million beneficiaries by year-end.

Head of the Government Communications Agency (Bakom), Muhammad Qodari, said the achievement reflects the continued effectiveness of the MBG program in meeting the community’s nutritional needs. “This is the result of the work carried out by President Prabowo’s administration, especially through the MBG program,” Qodari stated during a press conference at Bakom’s office in Jakarta on Wednesday, May 13, 2026.

He explained that all MBG beneficiaries are now served by 28,390 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) across Indonesia. Of these, 15,735 units, or about 55.42 percent, have obtained Hygiene Sanitation Certificates (SLHS).

Qodari noted that managing the MBG program on such a large scale requires continuous strengthening of governance. The government is therefore improving all aspects of implementation, including planning menus, selecting and supervising food partners, and enforcing hygiene and distribution standards. Reporting mechanisms and incident handling are also being enhanced.

Transparency and accountability in supervision remain central to ensuring the program’s benefits reach the community safely and consistently. “The government understands that a program as large as MBG requires ongoing improvement. Therefore, input from various elements of society is a priority,” Qodari said.

The government aims to gradually reach all MBG beneficiaries by the end of 2026. The program is one of its key priorities in improving the nutritional quality of the Indonesian people. (Misni Parjiati)
