Indonesian Troops Ready for UN Peacekeeping in Lebanon

RRI.CO.ID, Bogor — Presidential Chief of Staff, Dudung Abdurachman, has confirmed that 742 Indonesian Military personnel are prepared for deployment to Lebanon as part of a United Nations Peacekeeping Mission. The troops are scheduled to depart on May 22, 2026, rotating in to replace the Indonesian Military contingent currently serving in Lebanon.

The statement was made following Dudung's inspection of troop readiness at the Indonesian Military Peace Mission Centre (PMPP) in Sentul, Bogor, West Java, on Monday, May 11, 2026. The visit was conducted jointly with the Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs, Djamari Chaniago.

"I can see the troops are ready. This is, of course, a UN (United Nation) mission, but more importantly, it is a mission carried on behalf of the Indonesian nation," said Dudung.

During the visit, Dudung confirmed that the Indonesian Military PMPP had provided the peacekeeping contingent with comprehensive pre-deployment training and preparation. He also stressed the paramount importance of ensuring the safety and welfare of personnel throughout their service in the operational area.

Beyond personal safety, Dudung urged the troops to safeguard Indonesia's reputation on the international stage. He noted that Indonesian Military personnel have consistently been recognized for their friendliness, compassion, and discipline in carrying out peacekeeping duties.

"Because of this peace mission, Indonesian soldiers in particular are highly sought after there. That is due to their warmth, their sense of care, and their seriousness in executing their duties," he said.

Dudung also called on the Indonesian public to pray for the contingent, expressing hope that all personnel would carry out their mission without incident and return home safely. The government looks forward to the successful fulfilment of the mission in accordance with the UN mandate.

"To all the people of Indonesia, I ask for your prayers and blessings, may all of our troops carry out their duties smoothly. We hope they return safely, and that the peacekeeping mission is carried out with full success," said Dudung.

Also present at the occasion, Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono called on the troops to serve with dedication and a strong sense of responsibility. While acknowledging their role as peacekeepers, he reminded personnel that the operational area carries inherent risks that demand constant vigilance.

"It is a source of pride for me to meet with all of you today, and it will be an even greater pride when I am able to meet you again upon your return to the homeland, in good health and good spirits," said Minister Sugiono.

Other officials in attendance included Deputy Minister of National Development Planning Febrian Alphyanto Ruddyard, Head of Interpol Division of the Indonesian National Police Inspector General Amur Chandra Juli Buana, and Commander of the Indonesian Military Peace Mission Centre Major General Iwan Bambang Setiawan.
