RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture and the Bone Regency administration agreed to strengthen cooperation in cultural development through museums and heritage programs during a meeting in Jakarta on Tuesday May 5 2026. The talks focused on preserving local heritage while expanding its educational and economic value for the wider community.

Minister of Culture, Fadli Zon, received officials from Bone Regency at the Ministry of Culture office to discuss closer collaboration between the central and regional governments. Both sides highlighted the importance of promoting Bone’s rich cultural assets through sustainable programs.

Among the key priorities discussed were Museum La Pawawoi and Museum Arajangnge, which preserve royal heirlooms from the historic Bone kingdom. Plans to establish a new Agrarian Museum were also presented during the meeting.

Officials additionally outlined plans to rebuild Bola Soba, the former royal palace that was destroyed by fire. The new complex is expected to be relocated to a three-hectare site and developed into a cultural park and arts center.

Fadli Zon said the ministry fully supports efforts to advance culture in Bone through various assistance programs. “Museums must become cultural showcases, not merely storage spaces, but also attractive destinations and sources of regional income,” he said.

The minister added that the ministry also offers the Dana IndonesiaRaya funding program, which can be accessed by communities, art groups, and individuals through proposals. The initiative will be introduced to cultural communities in Bone as a follow-up to the meeting.

Meanwhile, Bone Vice Regent, Andi Akmal Pasludin also presented plans for Gau Maraja, a cultural festival scheduled to begin on September 24, 2026. Carrying the theme Symphony of Granaries: Celebrating Food and Culture, the six-day event will feature heritage exhibitions, agricultural showcases, and a two-day historical storytelling record attempt.

The meeting also discussed Bone Regency’s proposal to grant national hero status to La Pawawoi Karaeng Sigeri. Both sides said the partnership reflects a shared commitment to sustainable cultural development based on local strengths and broader public benefit.
