RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The Jakarta Provincial Government continues to maintain fiscal incentives in the form of exemptions from Motor Vehicle Tax (PKB) and Motor Vehicle Transfer Tax (BBNKB) for battery-powered electric vehicles. This was announced in a written press release on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Additionally, the policy exempting electric vehicles from the odd-even traffic restriction remains in effect. The Head of the Jakarta Capital Region Revenue Agency, Lusiana Herawati, explained that the fiscal incentive policy for electric vehicles in Jakarta continues to align with the central government’s policy direction.
“Following the issuance of the Minister of Home Affairs’ Circular Letter No. 900.1.13.1/3764/SJ regarding the provision of fiscal incentives in the form of exemptions from Vehicle Ownership Tax (PKB) and BBNKB for battery-powered electric vehicles, the Jakarta Provincial Government’s policy aligns with these provisions, namely continuing to provide incentives in the form of exemptions from PKB and BBNKB for battery-powered electric vehicles,” she said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo, stated that the policy exempting electric vehicles from the odd-even traffic restriction rules will also remain in place. This is part of the support for the use of low-emission vehicles.
“We are maintaining the odd-even restriction exemption for battery-powered electric vehicles. This policy is part of our efforts to promote the use of more environmentally friendly vehicles, in line with our commitment to reducing emissions and strengthening a sustainable urban transportation system,” he said.
According to him, the development of electric vehicles needs to be positioned as part of a broader urban mobility strategy. However, this must be supported by the strengthening of public transportation and consistent environmental policies.
With this policy, the Jakarta Provincial Government is committed to continuing to support the clean energy transition through incentives that align with national policies. This also ensures the sustainability of urban transportation development that is more environmentally friendly.
