RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture keeps on expanding the national film industry through closer collaboration with producers and industry groups. The initiative was discussed during a strategic meeting between Culture Minister Fadli Zon, the Indonesian Film Board (BPI), and leading film producers in Jakarta on May 4, 2026.

The minister said that the talks focused on improving the domestic film ecosystem through stronger partnerships, better industry governance, and sustainable policy support. The government views the creative sector as an important driver of economic growth and cultural influence.

BPI Chairman, Fauzan Zidni, said the organization and producer associations have launched the Indonesian Film Producers Forum as a platform for strategic collaboration. “We formed this forum to strengthen the national film ecosystem so it becomes more solid and well-directed,” he said.

He added that the forum is expected to improve consolidation in film production while encouraging innovation and inclusivity. It is also intended to serve as a long-term space for discussing major challenges facing the industry.

Film producer, Linda Ghozali, highlighted several priority issues raised in the forum, including transparency of national film distribution data, tax policy support, and faster revisions to the Film Law. “Data transparency is very important so that the industry can grow in a healthy way,” she said.

Producer and director, Angga Dwimas Sasongko, stressed the importance of aligned policies to maintain the industry’s current growth momentum. He said government backing in regulation and distribution would be crucial to ensuring equal opportunities for all industry players.

Responding to the proposals, Fadli Zon, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening the film sector through cross-sector collaboration. “The Ministry of Culture is committed to ensuring that the national film ecosystem grows strong and sustainable through policies that support Indonesian cinema,” he said.
