RRI.CO.ID, Ambon - The Indonesia's Ministry of Industry continues to strengthen the development of the national halal industry ecosystem by increasing access to halal certification services in various regions. One of these strategic steps is realized through the establishment of the Halal Inspection Institution (LPH) of the Ambon Industrial Standardization and Services Center.

The presence of the LPH Ambon Standardization Center is part of the government's efforts to expand the reach of halal services, especially for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). This effort is being carried out to ensure they are able to fulfill halal certification obligations while simultaneously increasing consumer confidence in the products they produce.

In a press release received by RRI VOI from the Ministry of Industry on Monday, May 4, 2026, Minister of Industry, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, stated that the development of the sharia economy in Indonesia is showing a very positive trend and has great potential to become a global center for the sharia economy. This potential is strengthened by the growth of sharia assets and financing, accelerated digitalization, and increasingly solid synergies between sectors.

"Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, representing a huge market. Furthermore, our regulations require all products distributed within Indonesia to be halal certified," Agus conveyed.

He explained that the government has issued a regulation on a roadmap for halal industry development for 2025-2029. The regulation contains six main programs to encourage the creation of a national halal industry ecosystem, including strengthening technical regulations, supporting infrastructure such as Halal Inspection Institutions (LPH), human resource development, and facilities for small-scale industries in the regions.

The Head of the Industrial Services Standardization and Policy Agency, Emmy Suryandari, emphasized that strengthening the halal industry needs to be carried out systematically to become one of the pillars of national industrialization and increase the competitiveness of Indonesian industry. "The focus on strengthening the halal industry ecosystem is carried out from upstream to downstream so that it can reach a wider market, both domestically and globally," Emmy said.
