President Prabowo Urges TNI Commanders to Serve as Nation’s Frontline

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto underscored the pivotal role of unit commanders as the frontline guardians of the nation during the 2026 TNI Commanders’ Assembly at the Defense University campus in Bogor, West Java, on Thursday, April 30.

Addressing 1,500 TNI commanders - from top military leaders and service chiefs to battalion-level officers - Prabowo delivered a closed-door briefing that highlighted the importance of commanders as the bridge between the armed forces and the people.

“Unit commanders are the nation’s bastion and frontline, directly engaging with society. Be present in ways that bring tangible benefits and positive impact to the people,” Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya quoted the President as saying.

The three-hour briefing was followed by a question-and-answer session with commanders, before President Prabowo joined them for group photos with 50 TNI units and each service branch.

The event concluded with a luncheon, symbolizing closeness between the President and field commanders while reinforcing cohesion and shared commitment to national duty.

Senior officials from the Merah Putih Cabinet also attended. Several ministers as well served as speakers during the two-day assembly, presenting government programs on food, water, and energy security, regional inflation control, the Merah Putih Fishermen’s Village initiative, Merah Putih cooperatives, the Free Nutritious Meals program, and rapid disaster response measures. ***
