RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The younger generation is being encouraged to view technology as the foundation of future leadership, a crucial step in navigating the ongoing digital transformation.

Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital, Nezar Patria, urged young people to master technological knowledge, noting that such expertise will serve as the basis for formulating digital policies.

“Technology policy requires broad and strategic knowledge, so a comprehensive understanding is crucial,” Nezar said on Wednesday, April 29, 2026. He delivered the message at the 2026 Youth Parliamentary Forum, attended by young people interested in policymaking.

Nezar emphasized that policymaking should not stop at discussion but must be followed by impact measurement. Evaluation, he said, is necessary to ensure policies are effective and provide broad benefits to society. “Parliament formulates strategic regulations,” he added.

He stressed that technology policy must consider human resources, not just innovation. Development must balance security with public protection, while also opening job opportunities and delivering economic benefits.

Nezar believes the younger generation can play a role as digital leaders, guiding the future of technology. Understanding technology, he said, is essential for formulating adaptive policies. With the right approach, innovation can thrive while ensuring public protection.
