Minister Reviews Makkah Route at Juanda Airport, Emphasizes Service Convenience

RRI.CO.ID, Surabaya - Indonesia’s Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Moch. Irfan Yusuf, reviewed the implementation of the Makkah Route fast track program at Juanda International Airport, Surabaya on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. The visit focused on improving departure services for Indonesian Hajj pilgrims.
The Makkah Route program is an innovation that allows Saudi immigration processing to be completed in Indonesia. The system enables pilgrims to skip long immigration queues upon arrival in Jeddah or Madinah.
During the review, the Minister expressed appreciation for the program’s implementation. He said the initiative reflects strong cooperation between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
“This Makkah Route service is a concrete form of strategic collaboration between the Government of Indonesia and Saudi Arabia in providing convenience for pilgrims. The integrated process from the homeland not only speeds up services but also ensures comfort and certainty upon arrival in the Holy Land,” Minister Moch. Irfan Yusuf said.
He added that the program is part of Indonesia’s broader transformation of Hajj services. The focus is on improving overall service quality for pilgrims.
“We at the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah are committed to continuing service innovations focused on comfort, safety, and certainty for pilgrims. The Makkah Route is one of the key pillars in this effort,” he conveyed.
The review also ensured all procedures were running according to operational standards. These include document checks, biometric processing, and professional handling by officers.
The Indonesian government emphasized that improving service quality remains a top priority. It aims to meet growing expectations for faster, easier, and more comfortable Hajj services.
