RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Indonesia, through the Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem Development (Ditjen PE2HU), is exploring a ready-to-eat meal partnership with PT KAI Services. The initiative was discussed during a meeting in Jakarta on Monday, April 27, 2026.

The collaboration marks an initial step to strengthen consumption service models for future Hajj operations. The Indonesian government seeks to improve food supply systems through a more integrated approach.

Director General of Hajj and Umrah Economic Ecosystem Development, Jaenal Effendi, highlighted the importance of this initiative. He said the effort focuses on building a more standardized and efficient food supply chain.

“In line with the Minister’s direction to improve Hajj services, RTE development aims to strengthen distribution efficiency, maintain food quality, and enhance food resilience during Hajj operations,” he said.

Both parties also discussed technical aspects of RTE provision during the initial meeting. This includes menu standards, packaging systems, and product durability for long-distance distribution to Saudi Arabia.

Special attention is given to maintaining food quality, especially rice and side dishes. The goal is to ensure meals remain safe and suitable for consumption upon arrival.

PT KAI Services expressed readiness supported by nine regional kitchens and two central kitchens. The company also works with more than 180 partners to support large-scale production capacity.

The Indonesian government emphasized that this initiative remains at an early exploration stage. It also stressed that all services must comply with Saudi regulations, including required permits.
