Indonesia Elevates Eastern Region’s Global Image

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta- The Vice Minister for Creative Economy ,Irene Umar, said that the Indonesian government promotes the image of the country's eastern part to the global forum. She made the statement during a discussion with diaspora from Ternate and Tidore Islands called "Bacarita Basudara", in Jakarta on Sunday, April 26, 2026.
The discussion is a collaboration of Youths of Indonesian City Government Association (APEKSI Muda) and Timur Network Foundationon. According to her, the image would be promoted via creative economy.
"Creative economy is how we bring the stories from the Eastern Indonesia to the global forum," Irene Umar conveyed.
She then urged to create one single branding and collective hashtag. With that, she added, the cultural potential and digital asset of the country can penetrate the world market massively, without even leaving the country.
As quoted by the press release, Irene Umar conveyed that the discussion aims to formulate a collaborative solution to strengthen creative economy and city development in Ternate and Tidore. The vice minister saw such discussion without border and formality was necessary to promote the voice and reality of the eastern Indonesia.
"We want to ensure the voices and realities from the East gets an honest and equal stage in the development of national creative economy," she said.
Meanwhile, Executive Director of APEKSI, Alwis Rustam, affimed the importance of cities in eastern Indonesia in national creaetive economy, especially from the youth innovation. "We want cities like Ternate and Tidore are known not only for their spices history, but also the innovation of the youth," he said.
Through the discussion, the Ministry of Creative Economy was committed to ensuring the government policy could reach all people thru collaboration of the government and creative networks. The collaboration aims at creating an inclusive ecosystem for young talents from all regions of Indonesia.
