RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has expressed its profound condolences following the passing of Private First Class (Praka) Rico Pramudia, an Indonesian soldier serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). Rico succumbed to severe injuries sustained during an Israeli tank artillery explosion near the city of Adchit Al Qusayr on March 29, 2026.

Since the incident, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) has worked in close coordination with UNIFIL, the Lebanese government, and medical teams in Beirut to ensure the soldier received optimal care. Despite nearly a month of intensive medical treatment in a Beirut hospital, the 31-year-old peacekeeper could not be saved.

“Various best medical measures were taken, but due to the severe injuries sustained, the deceased's life could not be saved,” the Ministry stated in an official release on Friday, April 24, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The government emphasized its commitment to providing the highest honors for Rico’s sacrifice and service to global peace. Coordination is currently underway with UNIFIL to expedite the repatriation of his remains to Indonesia with full military honors.

Indonesia has issued a stern condemnation of the Israeli attack that led to the peacekeeper's death. The Ministry reiterated that attacks targeting UN personnel constitute a serious violation of international law and can be categorized as war crimes.

In response to the tragedy, Indonesia is urging the United Nations to conduct a thorough, transparent, and accountable investigation to uncover the facts and ensure responsibility for the incident.

“The safety and security of UN peacekeepers is non-negotiable,” Kemlu asserted.

The government is also coordinating with other troop-contributing countries to strengthen protection protocols and risk mitigation strategies for all personnel currently operating within the UNIFIL mission area. ***
