RRI.CO.ID, Bengkulu - Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, emphasized the importance of ensuring that da’wah serves as a space to strengthen unity amid Indonesia’s diversity.
Speaking at a mass religious gathering at the Baitul Izzah Mosque on Friday, April 24, 2026, he reminded that the delivery of religious teachings should never instill hatred toward followers of other faiths.
“Many people, whether consciously or not, believe that if da’wah incites hostility, it contradicts the spirit of nationalism built on ethnic, religious, and cultural diversity. Religious activities should unite the people, not divide society,” he said, as quoted by Antara.
He stressed that religious values must serve as a foundation for building a peaceful and harmonious life in Indonesia’s pluralistic society.
On the same occasion, Bengkulu Deputy Governor Mian described the gathering as an important opportunity to strengthen faith and Islamic brotherhood.
“I hope the Minister of Religious Affairs’ presence and sermon will provide spiritual enlightenment, reinforce our values, and encourage everyone to contribute to a peaceful and tolerant society,” Mian said.
The event drew hundreds of congregants, along with representatives of the Bengkulu Province Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, regional administration organizations, and local community leaders, reflecting a strong spirit of togetherness in maintaining social harmony. ***
