RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government fosters public protection efforts in Hajj and Umrah implementation in coordination with the Indonesian Police (Polri). It was highlighted through a cross-ministerial coordination meeting at the Police Headquarters on Monday, April 20, 2026.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah works with Polri to suppress non-procedural Hajj practices that often harm prospective pilgrims. The discussion focused on strengthening the Joint Task Force, improving inter-agency data exchange, and developing strategies to prevent illegal Hajj operations.
The government affirmed that stronger coordination is needed to ensure better protection for Indonesian pilgrims. Authorities also aim to close loopholes that are frequently exploited by non-procedural Hajj organizers.
Collaboration between institutions is expected to accelerate case handling related to illegal Hajj practices. It is also designed to provide a stronger deterrent effect for perpetrators operating in the field.
The Director General of Hajj and Umrah Implementation Control, Harun Al Rasyid, emphasized the importance of solid inter-agency synergy. He said this collaboration is key to ensuring faster and more effective law enforcement processes.
"Through strong coordination, the handling of non-procedural Hajj can be carried out more effectively and swiftly," he said.
Harun added that state presence is essential in ensuring public safety during worship implementation. He stressed that protection and comfort for pilgrims remain the main priority of the government.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of the Police Intelligence and Security Agency, Nanang Rudi Supriatna, explained that the Hajj Task Force was formed following direct instructions from police leadership. The task force will operate down to the Resort Police level and coordinate with regional institutions.
"We are collaborating with the Ministry of Hajj all the way to the regional levels, including at the district and city levels," he said.
