RRI.CO.ID, Magelang - Indonesian Agriculture Minister Andi Amran Sulaiman has issued a stern warning to soybean importers accused of arbitrarily raising prices. He stressed that the government has reached an agreement with importers to maintain stability in domestic soybean prices.

“If I find anyone raising prices unreasonably, thereby disadvantaging people who need soybeans, I will revoke their license and not renew it for next year,” Amran said after inspecting a water pump in Banyu Urip Village, Tegalrejo Subdistrict, Magelang Regency, Central Java, on Thursday, April 16, 2026.

He added that the government is still awaiting evidence of violations before taking further action. “If there are perpetrators, only then will I revoke their license,” he said.

Soybean prices are currently around IDR 11,500 (USD 0.67) per kilogram, up significantly from the previous IDR 9,000. The increase has been felt since the start of Ramadan and has directly affected tofu and tempeh producers who rely on soybeans as raw materials.

The Agriculture Ministry said it has coordinated with importers to ensure supplies remain available and prices are stable. Minister Amran reminded all business operators to comply with the agreements made to safeguard public purchasing power. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
