Minister Supports Christian Intellectual Congress, Seeks Impactful Outcomes

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government supports the 7th Congress of the Indonesian Christian Intellectuals Association (PIKI) in Jakarta, Tuesday, 14 April 2026. The event is expected to generate concrete ideas for society.

Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, expressed support for the congress and its objectives. He emphasized the importance of producing innovative ideas and practical benefits for the public.

The congress will gather around 300 participants, including church leaders and academics from across Indonesia. It is seen as a vital dialogue space among intellectuals and thinkers.

He highlighted the role of intellectual organizations in contributing to national development. The forum is expected to strengthen harmony and collaboration across sectors.

He then introduced expectations for the outcomes of the congress. The meeting is expected to produce ideas that directly benefit society and the nation.

“We hope this forum will produce fresh ideas, novel solutions, and practical contributions with direct impact. The key is ensuring the congress outcomes benefit the wider community and the Indonesian nation,” he said.

He also reaffirmed strong backing for the success of the congress. The gathering of scholars and intellectuals is considered essential for advancing the country.

“I fully support the success of the 7th PIKI Congress. This is an important forum that brings together academics, intellectuals, and Christian scholars to contribute to national progress,” he mentioned.

Vice Chairperson of PIKI, Abetnego Tarigan, said the congress will be held from 30 April to 2 May 2026 in Jakarta. He added that the event will be conducted in a hybrid format and address strategic national issues aligned with the vision of Prabowo Subianto.
