RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government will renew cooperation on religious broadcasting quality. The plan was discussed in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 14, 2026, during a meeting between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission.
Chairperson of the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), Ubaidillah, said the visit aimed to extend the existing memorandum of understanding. He noted the agreement needs renewal to strengthen long-term collaboration.
He conveyed that the previous MoU period has expired and requires updating. The renewal is expected to improve coordination and partnership between both institutions.
“Our main purpose here is to extend the memorandum of understanding that has already been established. Since the period has been quite long, we want to renew it, so we can continue building a better relationship,” he said.
On the same occasion, Special Staff to the Minister of Religious Affairs for Human Resources, Media, and Public Communication, Ismail Cawidu, welcomed the plan to extend the cooperation. He said the process to continue the MoU would proceed soon.
He affirmed that future cooperation should go beyond routine monitoring activities. It is expected to include broader program development and capacity building efforts.
“Extending the MoU should not be a problem at all. We will immediately proceed with the next steps,” he said.
He also highlighted the ministry’s extensive resources to support collaboration nationwide. These include universities, Islamic boarding schools, madrasahs, mosques, and religious counselors.
“The Ministry of Religious Affairs has around 400,000 personnel. We have 58 universities, 42,000 Islamic boarding schools, 84,000 madrasahs, and 800,000 mosques. There are also 45,000 religious counselors in every subdistrict,” he conveyed.
Both parties agreed to follow up the cooperation through legal channels. The step aims to strengthen broadcast quality oversight and promote moderate religious content.
