RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government builds up child protection through a meeting in Jakarta, Tuesday, April 14, 2026. The discussion involved collaboration between the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the National Commission for Child Protection (Komnas PA).

Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, emphasized post-marriage guidance as a foundation for child protection awareness. He said protection must start early within family life, not after problems arise.

He highlighted the strategic role of Religious Affairs Offices (KUA) in shaping responsible families. KUA is expected to educate couples about parenting and safeguarding children from social and digital risks.

The minister stressed that KUA should serve beyond marriage registration duties. It should act as a family education center preparing couples to understand children's rights and protection.

He also reaffirmed the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs’ commitment to broad collaboration. According to him, child protection is a shared responsibility across institutions and sectors.

The minister outlined ongoing cross-sector efforts to address digital challenges affecting children. He noted collaboration with five ministries and agencies to implement PP Tunas for safer digital ecosystems.

He introduced the importance of equipping parents with proper knowledge early on. The initiative aims to build stronger awareness from the beginning of family life.

“Post-marriage guidance at KUA must be strengthened. Here, future parents gain understanding of parenting, including protecting children from various risks, both in social environments and in digital spaces,” he said.

Chairperson of Komnas PA Agustinus Sirait highlighted digital-based services supported by AI for child protection. He said the system allows anonymous reporting and integrates with law enforcement for urgent cases.

“Komnas PA services are now digital-based with AI support. The public can report anonymously, and reports go directly to our data center and are integrated with Bareskrim for emergency case handling,” he said.
