RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The state-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero), has officially launched the Clean Energy Day movement as a strategic corporate initiative.

In line with government directives, the program encourages PLN employees to use environmentally friendly transportation every Friday to reduce fossil fuel consumption and carbon emissions. The initiative also reinforces the company’s commitment to leading Indonesia’s energy transition.

PLN’s Director of Legal and Human Capital Management, Yusuf Didi Setiarto, said the movement represents a paradigm shift in building positive collective behavior among employees. “With the spirit of mutual cooperation, we are optimistic this step will significantly reduce national fuel consumption and carbon emissions,” he stated.

As part of the initiative, PLN has introduced a “Fuel-Free Vehicle Parking” policy at all offices on Fridays. Employees are encouraged to use public transportation, electric vehicles, bicycles, or walk.

Clean Energy Day also aims to improve operational efficiency. PLN has cut business travel by 50–70 percent and optimized virtual coordination meetings.

The initiative has been integrated into an internal application that automatically records employees’ daily travel activities. The data is monitored in real time and used to reward employees and work units with the highest participation.

During its first implementation on Friday, April 10, 2026, PLN employees reduced carbon emissions by 28,600 kilograms of CO₂. The initiative also saved approximately 12,400 liters of fuel, equivalent to around Rp153 million in a single day.
