Indonesia’s Rice Reserves Reach Record 4.72 Million Tons

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Minister of Agriculture, Andi Amran Sulaiman, said that Indonesia’s government recorded a historic high in Government Rice Reserves, reaching 4.72 million tons. He made the statement in Jakarta on Monday, April 13, 2026.
He also said that it reflects stronger national food security and more effective and well-managed stock governance. The minister also said the achievement resulted from strong cross-sector collaboration and coordination.
He emphasized the importance of strengthening strategic national food reserves for long-term stability. The increase demonstrates consistent efforts among government institutions in managing food supply systems.
The current figure marks a significant rise compared to the previous highest level recorded. Earlier records stood at around 2.684 million tons in national reserves.
The reserves are projected to soon reach 5 million tons in the near future. Before delivering his statement, the minister highlighted the important role of the State Logistics Agency.
He acknowledged the strong contribution of Bulog in maintaining national rice reserves consistently. He then conveyed his remarks at the Bulog office in Jakarta.
"This is the result of our collective hard work, especially our colleagues at Bulog. This may be the highest achievement since Bulog was established," he said.
In addition, the minister explained that the current reserves were achieved through a long and challenging process. He noted that budget constraints were a major issue at the early stage of the program.
He emphasized the importance of strong government support in overcoming these initial challenges. Before continuing his remarks, he described the government’s quick response to urgent funding needs.
