RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian Deputy Minister of Creative Economy Irene Umar received a French delegation as part of the ICC Immersion Indonesia/Singapore program held on April 11–16, 2026.
During the meeting, Irene emphasized Indonesia’s significant potential to develop the global creative economy, particularly in subsectors that integrate art and technology.
“Indonesia possesses great strength in creative talent and cultural diversity. We are open to cross-border collaboration, especially those that combine art, technology, and immersive experiences,” Irene said at Autograph Tower, Jakarta, on Monday, April 13.
She noted that the Ministry continues to promote strengthening the creative economy ecosystem through international collaboration grounded in innovation, technology, and culture.
Irene also encouraged the French delegation to deepen its understanding of Indonesia’s creative economy ecosystem through direct interaction with creative practitioners in Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Bali.
“We want this collaboration to evolve into tangible partnerships, whether through co-production, creative residencies, or joint Intellectual Property (IP) development,” she added.
Director of the Institut Français d’Indonésie (IFI), Jules Irrmann, stated that Indonesia is a strategic partner in developing Southeast Asia's creative industry. “This program brings together French industry actors and partners in Indonesia, fostering the creation of innovative and sustainable joint projects,” he said.
The French delegation also presented its approaches and experiences, particularly in immersive arts, creative technologies, music production, and museum and cultural heritage management.
This meeting is part of the implementation of bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and France in the creative economy sector, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in 2025 covering subsectors such as film, animation, crafts, culinary arts, fashion, gaming, and design.
The ICC Immersion Program was initiated by the French Embassy in Indonesia, in collaboration with IFI and Business France. The program involves 12 French companies from subsectors including architecture, museography, immersive experiences and gaming, music, cultural heritage, and live events. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
