RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Government rice reserves (CBP) have surged to 4.72 million tons, a record achievement attributed to the government’s rapid response in overcoming obstacles, particularly those related to funding and cross-sector coordination.

“This is the result of our collective efforts, especially those of our colleagues at State Logistics Agency (Bulog). It is perhaps the greatest accomplishment since Bulog’s establishment,” said Minister of Agriculture and National Food Agency Head Andi Amran Sulaiman at the Bulog office in Jakarta on Monday, April 13, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

The acceleration in strengthening rice stocks followed direct support from President Prabowo Subianto. “Previously, Bulog didn’t have the money. We conveyed this directly to the President, and within minutes, he responded,” said Minister Amran.

According to Minister Amran, this swift decision resulted in an initial budget of IDR 16.6 trillion, later strengthened by an additional IDR 39 trillion, ensuring that national food reserves remain at a secure level.

Minister Amran emphasized that strengthening government rice reserves is a strategic step that directly affects the livelihoods of millions of Indonesians.

“This affects the livelihoods of 115 million people. Therefore, strengthening the CBP is not an option, but a necessity,” he said.

This achievement reflects the strength of cross-sectoral cooperation, from ministries to relevant institutions. Thanks to strong coordination, CBP stocks have risen significantly from the previous record of around 2.684 million tons and are projected to reach 5 million tons soon.

Minister Amran noted that this success was not achieved overnight but was the result of a long struggle amid various challenges, especially at the beginning of the administration, when budget constraints posed major obstacles.

“Not everything went smoothly, but this was for the sake of the nation, not personal interests,” he said.

He further stressed that the achievement could not have been realized without the leadership of President Prabowo Subianto and the solid cooperation among ministries, particularly the Ministry of Finance, in ensuring budget availability.

“It would have been impossible to succeed without the President’s command and the cooperation of all parties. If even one sector had been obstructed, the results would not have been like this,” said Minister Amran.

With this accomplishment, the government is optimistic that CBP will serve as a strong foundation for maintaining price stability, anticipating supply fluctuations, and ensuring food availability across Indonesia.

“It may look simple, but the impact is felt nationwide. There are 115 million of our people whose livelihoods depend on this sector,” said Minister Amran. ***
