RRI.CO.ID, Banggai - Indonesia’s Minister of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions, Yandri Susanto, reaffirmed his commitment to advancing thematic village programs across the country. He made the statement during his visit to Desa Lenyek, Monday, April 13, 2026.
During the visit, Yandri held a dialogue with local residents and highlighted the village’s potential. He noted that Desa Lenyek has identified dragon fruit as a key commodity and also holds strong prospects as a tourism destination.
To support these initiatives, the Ministry plans to provide assistance aimed at strengthening local economic development. The support will focus on developing village-owned enterprises, thematic agriculture, and tourism-based activities.
“We will provide support for Desa Lenyek through programs such as tourism villages, export villages, and village-owned enterprises,” Yandri said. “We will coordinate with the local government to determine priority areas.”
In addition to development plans, Yandri also listened to concerns raised by residents regarding infrastructure and public services. Issues included limited school classrooms and the absence of the Free Nutritious Meals program in local schools.
Responding to these concerns, Yandri pledged immediate coordination with relevant ministries. He said the government would work with the Ministry of Public Works, the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, and the National Nutrition Agency.
“At SD Lenyek, students are reportedly studying outside due to a lack of classrooms,” he said. “We will coordinate with the education ministry to ensure proper facilities are provided.”
Yandri also highlighted the need to expand the Free Nutritious Meals program to underserved areas. He expressed hope that coordination with local authorities would accelerate the construction of supporting facilities.
Moreover, he said that direct visits to villages are essential to both address challenges and unlock local potential. The initiative, he said, is part of a broader effort to ensure inclusive rural development across Indonesia.
