RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Deputy Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, is urging the acceleration of the house renovation program, where the government is significantly increasing the number to 400,000 houses in 2026. This house renovation program is expected to improve the quality of life for those in need.
"This house renovation program is one of the people's programs that shows President Prabowo Subianto's concern for the underprivileged," Andi Iwan Darmawan Aras, stated to Parlementaria on Monday, April 13, 2026.
According to Iwan Aras, the target of renovating 400 thousand people's houses by 2026 indicates that the direction of national housing policy places greater emphasis on the quality of residences already occupied by the community.
"Therefore, the most important thing is not just to meet the target, but how this house renovation program can improve the quality of life for the people, especially those whose current living conditions are not yet adequate," Andi Iwan conveyed.
As is known, the Government will significantly increase the people's housing renovation program in 2026 with a target of renovating 400 thousand housing units across Indonesia. The enhancement of this program is a direct directive from President Prabowo Subianto to accelerate the provision of decent housing for the community.
The house renovation program is one of the government's efforts to reduce the number of uninhabitable houses (RTLH) in Indonesia. This program is run by the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) based on the legal foundation of Ministerial Regulation PKP Number 10 of 2025 concerning the Implementation of Housing Development Assistance and the Provision of Special Houses.
Iwn Aras, said that the Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance Program (BSPS), which targets 400 thousand housing units that year, is an important program needed by the people.
"This program is a very good program because it aims to provide decent housing for the community." This is evidence of Mr. Prabowo's government's commitment to the welfare of the people," he said.
Furthermore, Iwan stated that the house renovation program is an important step because in many areas, the main housing issue is not the absence of houses, but rather the condition of houses that structurally no longer meet safety, health, and livability standards.
For your information, if last year there were 220 regencies/cities that had not received the house renovation program, this year the Government ensures that all regencies/cities will receive the program.
