President Prabowo Departs for Moscow Strategic Talks

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow to build up strategic cooperation amid evolving global dynamics. The departure took place from Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase, Jakarta on Sunday, April 12, 2026 ahead of scheduled high-level bilateral meetings.

As quoted by the presidential website, the visit includes a planned meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow. The meeting is considered crucial amid shifting geopolitical and economic conditions affecting global stability.

Cabinet Secretary, Teddy Indra Wijaya, confirmed the President’s departure in an official statement released earlier. He stated the trip aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation and address strategic issues between both countries.

“Late Sunday night on April 12, 2026, President Prabowo Subianto departed for Moscow, Russia,” Teddy said. He underscored the visit marks an important step in strengthening Indonesia’s international engagement.

The president traveled approximately twelve hours on a non-stop flight using flag carrier Garuda Indonesia. He is scheduled to arrive Monday morning local time and proceed with official engagements.

Moreover, a one-on-one meeting between both leaders is scheduled to take place on the same day. The discussion will focus on strengthening cooperation and addressing key bilateral priorities.

Key agenda items include energy cooperation to ensure stable national energy supply, including oil availability. Both leaders are also expected to discuss broader geopolitical developments affecting regional and global stability.

The visit also includes discussions on Indonesia’s strategic role in maintaining global peace and stability. Several senior officials accompanied the president during the visit, among them were Foreign Affairs Minister Sugiono, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia, and Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya.
