President Prabowo to Visit Russia for Talks on Energy and Geopolitics

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto will make a working visit to Russia this week to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss strategic energy cooperation.

Foreign Minister Sugiono confirmed that President Prabowo is scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. “One of the topics to be discussed is alternative oil, as it is highly strategic,” Sugiono said in Jakarta on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The meeting will address energy security, particularly Indonesia’s efforts to secure alternative sources of oil amid global uncertainty. The visit is considered a strategic step to bolster national energy resilience.

In addition to energy, the two leaders will discuss the evolving global geopolitical situation, including the impact of regional tensions on energy stability. “He will meet with President Putin and discuss global geopolitics and energy issues,” Minister Sugiono added.

He noted that tensions in the Middle East have disrupted global energy stability, prompting countries, including Indonesia, to take anticipatory measures.

Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya previously emphasized that energy will be the main focus of the president’s visit. He also mentioned that Indonesia has explored cooperation with other countries, including oil agreements with Japan. (Misni Parjiati/Lasti Martina)
