RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has confirmed that there are no plans to withdraw Indonesian Military (TNI) troops serving in the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) peacekeeping mission. Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya stated that TNI personnel will remain on duty despite ongoing turmoil in the Middle East.

“The evaluation process is ongoing. We will conduct both internal and external evaluations,” Teddy said in a statement to reporters at the Presidential Palace Complex in Jakarta on Friday, March 10, 2026.

He explained that the deployment of TNI troops to UNIFIL is regularly reported by the TNI Commander, Gen. Agus Subiyanto, and the Foreign Minister, Sugiono. Teddy emphasized that the 1945 Constitution mandates Indonesia’s participation in UN peacekeeping missions.

“We are dispatching troops there to maintain peace, and we are firm in carrying out these evaluations,” he said.

Three Indonesian peacekeepers serving with UNIFIL were recently killed in Lebanon following an Israeli attack. They were Maj. (Posthumous) Zulmi Aditya, MSgt. (Posthumous) M. Nur Ichwan, and Cpl. (Posthumous) Farizal Rhomadon.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Yvonne Mewengkang stated that preliminary findings from the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations (UNDPO) revealed the soldiers were killed by gunfire from an Israeli tank.

“Indonesia strongly condemns this Israeli attack, which killed Indonesian personnel carrying out their mandate as UN peacekeepers,” Yvonne said. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
