The appointments were made under Presidential Decree No. 20 P/2026 concerning the dismissal and appointment of Ombudsman members.
“I swear, I pledge to carry out my responsibilities to the best of my ability and with the utmost fairness as Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson, and member of the Ombudsman. I swear that in carrying out my responsibilities, I will never accept, directly or indirectly, any promise or gift from anyone,” the nine members declared during the ceremony, as quoted by Antara.
The new members are Hery Susanto (Chair), Rahmadi Indra Tektona (Deputy Chair), Abdul Ghoffar, Fikri Yasin, Maneger Nasution, Nuzran Joher, Partono, Robertus Na Endi Jaweng, and Syafrida Rachmawati Rasahan.
The Ombudsman of the Republic of Indonesia is tasked with overseeing the delivery of public services by government institutions, state-owned enterprises (BUMN), regional-owned enterprises (BUMD), and private entities funded by the state budget (APBN) or regional budgets (APBD).
Its primary role is to receive complaints, investigate allegations of maladministration, and recommend corrective measures to prevent corruption, abuse of power, and inefficiency. By doing so, the Ombudsman ensures that citizens have access to fair, transparent, and accountable public services.
The institution was originally established as the National Ombudsman Commission under Presidential Decree No. 44/2000. In 2008, the House of Representatives (DPR) enacted Law No. 37/2008, formally institutionalizing the Ombudsman as a permanent body. ***
