RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian House of Representatives Commission III lawmaker Rudianto Lallo has voiced support for the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) proposal to ban the distribution of vapes after narcotics were found in them. He said the measure could be included in the revision of the Narcotics Bill to strengthen regulations and oversight.

“I consider this proposal excellent, as the BNN has conducted studies on the matter. So if the Head of the BNN proposes that it be included in the bill revision, I think it is reasonable,” Rudianto said in a press statement received by RRI on Friday, April 10, 2026.

He explained that the BNN aims to prevent the spread of narcotics through new methods. He also noted that several Asian countries have already banned the circulation of vape products. “In my view, we must prevent the potential circulation of narcotic substances in society. I believe the studies conducted by the BNN have been thorough,” Rudianto said.

Earlier, BNN Chief Comr. Gen. Suyudi Ario Seto revealed the phenomenon of narcotics circulating in vape liquids. He said the agency had identified hazardous substances in 341 vape liquid samples. “Currently, we are facing a massive phenomenon of narcotics being distributed in vapes or electronic cigarettes,” Suyudi said.

He added that 11 vape liquid samples were found to contain specific cannabinoids, while one sample contained methamphetamine and etomidate.

Regarding the discovery of etomidate in vape liquid, Suyudi welcomed the government’s regulatory actions, particularly the classification of the substance as a narcotic. (Gusti Panji/Lasti Martina)
