RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Chairman of the Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Agency (BKSAP) of the Indonesian House of Representatives held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) titled “Synergy of Indonesian Solidarity for Palestine: One Heart, One Voice: Indonesia United for Palestine” in the Diplomacy Room, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday, 9 April 2026. This activity serves as a strategic step in consolidating various elements of society to strengthen support for the Palestinian struggle for independence.
The FGD featured the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulfattah A.K. Al-Sattari, as well as various community organizations, humanitarian agencies, and communities that have been active in the issue of solidarity with Palestine.
The Chairman of BKSAP, Syahrul Aidi Maazat, emphasized that this forum serves as an important space to unify the steps between parliament and societal elements so that the solidarity movement does not proceed partially, but rather in a coordinated and mutually reinforcing manner.
"This FGD serves as a platform to consolidate the Palestinian solidarity movement, so that it does not operate independently." We want all parties to move in unison, complement each other, and create a broader impact," Syahrul said.
He explained that there have been hundreds of organizations working on Palestinian issues with various activities, ranging from public education, fundraising, to humanitarian aid. However, without good coordination, the potential for program overlap and the ineffectiveness of the movement become distinct challenges.
Therefore, BKSAP encourages the mapping of these organizations, both in terms of programs, targets, and areas of work. With this mapping, it is hoped that untouched areas can be identified, so that the needs of the Palestinian community can be accommodated more evenly.
"We want to see the whole picture, from the many activities that have been carried out, which ones have been done extensively and which ones are still lacking." "Thus, this solidarity movement can be more strategic, targeted, and reach all layers of society," he said.
In the FGD, it was also emphasized that the Palestinian issue is a global humanitarian issue that transcends religious, ethnic, and specific group boundaries. Therefore, the participation of all elements of society, including the younger generation and cross-background communities, is very important in expanding support.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ambassador to Indonesia expressed appreciation for the support given by the Indonesian people. He expressed his admiration for the various forms of solidarity that he deemed not only limited to demonstrations but also manifested thru various innovations, educational campaigns, and creative movements involving the younger generation.
"Support from Indonesia has become one of the most significant moral strengths for the Palestinian people amidst the various challenges they face," he said.
