POLRI and Ministry of Hajj Create Hajj Task Force 2026

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta : The Indonesian National Police (Polri) and the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah have officially formed the 2026 Hajj Task Force to protect prospective pilgrims from illegal hajj practices and scams.The formation of this task force is a direct follow-up to the instructions of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to ensure comprehensive protection for Indonesian hajj and umrah pilgrims.
Deputy Chief of Polri, Commissioner General Dedi Prasetyo, after meeting with Vice Minister of Hajj and Umrah, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, in Jakarta, Thursday, April 9, 2026, emphasized that the Hajj Task Force will work integratedly from central to regional levels with a comprehensive approach, from education to law enforcement.
The Police will prioritize education, prevention, and enforcement against perpetrators of scams and illegal hajj. "We formed this task force to ensure that the community is protected and not victimized by various modes of scams," the Deputy Chief of the Police said.
In addition, a integrated complaint hotline will be opened to accelerate responses to community reports. The real threat of hajj scams is still rampant, with 42 cases being processed and losses reaching Rp92.64 billion.
The Police data shows that hajj scam practices are still rampant, with 1,243 prospective pilgrims prevented from departing using non-hajj visas in 2025. Polri is also expanding coordination to Saudi Arabia to strengthen protection for Indonesian pilgrims.
Regarding the rampant hajj scam practices, the Indonesian Police continue to take preventive measures and protect in collaboration with relevant parties. "Modes will continue to evolve. Therefore, community vigilance is key. Polri will take firm action to protect the community," the Deputy Chief of Police stated.
The Police reminds the public to be vigilant against illegal hajj modes and ensure that travel agencies have official permits.
Meanwhile, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, emphasized that the Hajj Task Force was formed to implement two main focuses of the President's instructions: full protection for pilgrims and ensuring that hajj costs do not increasingly burden the community.
The Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah assured that the government also ensures that global cost increases are not directly passed on to pilgrims.
