RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesia's Ministry of Creative Economy, underscored the importance of women's leadership in strengthening national resilience and promoting inclusive development. Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, made the statement at the national dialogue and workshop themed "The Role of Women's Leadership in Developing National Independence and Resilience" in Jakarta on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.

This forum is a collaboration across ministries and institutions initiated by Ministry of National Development Planning, as an effort to strengthen women's role in national development.

Vice Minister of Creative Economy, Irene Umar, stated that the creative economy is a strategic space that is increasingly open to women, especially amidst the acceleration of digital transformation. "The creative economy opens up enormous opportunities regardless of background. With the support of technology, women can work from anywhere and become part of the economic driver. This is an inclusive space that allows anyone to contribute," Irene Umar conveyed.

She added that strengthening women's roles through the creative economy also contributes to increased capacity and independence, as access to various business opportunities and innovations becomes more open. "The creative economy is the new engine of growth that provides ample space for women to develop. The key is the courage to start and self-confidence," she added.

Echoing this sentiment, Vice Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, stated that future development approaches must ensure women's involvement as drivers, not just beneficiaries. "Women must be part of the development process. Affirmative policies are needed to involve women in economic strategies and decision-making," Veronica Tan said.

Collaboration across ministries and institutions in this forum strengthens a more integrated policy direction and encourages the implementation of programs that directly impact the community.

The Ministry of Creative Economy views strengthening women's leadership, particularly through the creative economy sector, as a concrete step in expanding community participation while strengthening the foundation of inclusive and sustainable national development.
