RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Parliamentary Caucus for World Peace, comprised of legislators from the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) and the Regional Representatives Council (DPD RI), is preparing concrete steps by visiting several embassies in Indonesia to advocate for an end to international conflict.

This step is being taken in response to geopolitical dynamics following the escalation of the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran.

"One of the important agenda items is to visit the embassies of the countries involved, namely the United States, Iran, and perhaps the Gulf countries," said Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives Legislation Body, Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tanjung, representing the caucus, during a press conference at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Monday, April 6, 2026, as quoted by Antara.

He explained that the 30-member caucus represents the Indonesian parliament's concern and moral and political movement to uphold the constitutional mandate of achieving world peace.

According to Doli, the caucus will also visit the embassies of countries that have chosen not to engage in war. For example, European countries.

This step reflects a shift in parliament's approach from merely a domestic response to a more proactive diplomatic actor. The caucus assesses that the recurring global conflicts since 2022—from the Russia-Ukraine war to the conflict in the Middle East—have had a real impact on the world, including Indonesia.

Indonesia is not only threatened by an energy and economic crisis but also experienced physical impacts when three Indonesian military (TNI) soldiers were killed in an Israeli attack on United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon.

"Of course, we cannot allow this to happen; we cannot remain silent, so we have agreed to take the initiative to form the Parliamentary Caucus for World Peace," he said.

The caucus' membership is projected to grow, as communication with members of parliament will be expanded. "Of course, we hope this movement will become a broader movement, not only for us as initiators and declarants, but also for existing institutions," he said.

Going forward, the caucus will strive to strengthen its position as an institutional movement by establishing intensive communication with the speakers of the House of Representatives (DPR), the Regional Representatives Council (DPD), and the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR). The goal is clear: to provide stronger political impetus for the government to take decisive action in support of world peace.

With this strategy, the Indonesian parliament is attempting to position itself not merely as an observer, but as part of the solution to mitigating increasingly complex global conflicts. ***
