RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s national football team secured a runner-up finish at the FIFA Series 2026 after a narrow 0-1 defeat to Bulgaria in the final. The match took place at Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta,Monday, March 30, 2026.

Despite falling short of the title, the result marked a significant achievement for Indonesia on the international stage. The team showed strong competitiveness against a European side with a solid football pedigree.

The only goal of the match came from a penalty converted by Petkov M in the 38th minute. The decisive moment proved enough to secure victory for Bulgaria in a tightly contested final.

PSSI Chairman, Erick Thohir, praised the team’s performance under new head coach John Herdman. He noted that the squad demonstrated clear improvement and a higher level of play during the tournament.

“The performance was quite high quality, especially considering we were facing a strong team that reached the World Cup semifinals in 1994,” Erick said following the final match.

He added that Indonesia’s showing in the FIFA Series 2026 reflects positive progress and potential for future competitions. The result is expected to serve as a strong foundation for the team’s continued development on the global stage.
