RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta – The government plans to build public housing in the Kramat Raya Street area, Senen, Jakarta. The Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas (PKP), Maruarar Sirait, on Sunday, March 29, 2026, personally inspected the 1.61-hectare plot owned by PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia.

The Minister emphasized that the construction of these public housing units will be carried out through collaboration between the central government, local governments, state-owned enterprises (SOEs), and the private sector.

“We are collaborating between the central government, the Ministry, Danantara, the State-Owned Enterprises Board (BP BUMN), the provincial government, and the city government,” the Minister said.

Based on the results of initial coordination among various stakeholders, the groundbreaking for this public housing project is targeted for May 2026. The construction and financing schemes will be decided shortly during an inter-ministerial/agency and SOE coordination meeting.

The Minister of Public Housing and Urban Development hopes this project can serve as a model of synergy between the government, state-owned enterprises, and the private sector in providing decent housing in densely populated urban areas.

“What is certain is that this public housing complex will be built soon. The local government will fully assist with the permitting process,” he said.

In addition to the construction of public housing, Maruarar revealed that by 2026 his agency is also preparing a Self-Help Housing Stimulus Assistance (BSPS) program for 3,100 units in the DKI Jakarta area. This program is spread across five administrative city districts, with 600 units in each, as well as 100 units in the Thousand Islands.

The inspection was also attended by Head of the State-Owned Enterprises Regulatory Agency (BP BUMN) Dony Oskaria, Mayor of Central Jakarta Arifin, President Director of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi, and Acting President Director of Perum Perumnas Imelda Alini Pohan.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto made a surprise visit to residents living along the railroad tracks in the Senen area on Thursday, March 26, 2026. After the inspection, the Head of State immediately instructed the Minister of Public Housing and Urban Development and relevant officials to immediately prepare decent housing for the residents living along the tracks.
