KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 Bolsters Second Fleet’s Escort Squadron

RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 has officially arrived and docked in Madura, Second Fleet Command (Koarmada II), Ujung, Surabaya, on Sunday, March 29, 2026. The arrival of the warship was personally welcomed by the Commander of the Second Fleet, Rear Admiral I G. P. Alit Jaya, accompanied by the Chairperson of the Second Fleet's Jalasenastri branch.
As quoted by tnial.mil.id, shortly before entering the pier, the Indonesian Navy's newest vessel received a special welcome in the Western Surabaya Access Channel (APBS). KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 and KRI Frans Kaisiepo-368, along with naval aviation units from Center for Navy Aviation, performed welcoming maneuvers through PASSEX and PHOTEX exercises.
This historic moment marks the induction of the Navy's most advanced warship into the operational ranks of the Second Fleet. Its presence is specifically projected to strengthen the Escort Ship Squadron in safeguarding Indonesia's maritime sovereignty.
Commanded by Colonel Kurniawan Koes Atmadja, the ship is expected to enhance the Indonesian Navy's operational readiness. The maritime defense posture within the Second Fleet's jurisdiction will become increasingly solid with the advanced technology integrated into the vessel.
Technically, KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 is a Thaon-class frigate manufactured by the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy. The ship is equipped with integrated weapon systems and multi-role capabilities, suitable for various types of maritime operations.
Another advantage of this vessel lies in its high cruising range and maneuverability in duty zones. This allows the Indonesian Navy to carry out various strategic missions more effectively and efficiently in the future.
The Commander of the Second Fleet concluded the event by symbolically handing over the KRI Prabu Siliwangi-321 Ensign (Pataka) to the Commanding Officer. He also provided a briefing to all crew members as motivation for their upcoming operational duties under the Second Fleet and the Indonesian Navy.
