RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Former defense minister Juwono Sudarsono passed away on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 1:45 p.m. Jakarta time at Pondok Indah Hospital in Jakarta, according to Antara.
The Defense Ministry’s Information Bureau Head Brig. Gen. Rico Ricardo Sirait confirmed the news. Juwono, who was also a professor of international relations at the University of Indonesia, was widely recognized for his academic and government service.
He served as Minister of Defense during the administrations of Indonesia’s fourth President Abdurrahman Wahid and sixth President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
Juwono also served as Minister of Education and Culture under President B. J. Habibie and earlier served as State Minister for Environment under President Soeharto.
His burial is scheduled for Sunday, March 29, 2026, at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery in South Jakarta. ***
