RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesia’s Ministry of Culture has announced new energy efficiency measures in response to global energy challenges. The policy also includes adjustments to working arrangements within the ministry.
Culture Minister, Fadli Zon, delivered the directive during an online meeting with ministry officials in Jakarta, Wednesday March 25, 2026. The policy is part of broader government efforts to respond to global economic and energy uncertainties.
He said President Prabowo has instructed all ministries and government agencies to reduce energy consumption proactively. The measures include budget efficiency, work-from-home arrangements, and the development of solar energy systems.
Under the new policy, employees at the Ministry of Culture will work from home one day each week. The minister also affirmed that the policy should not reduce the quality of public services.
He noted that both online and offline services must maintain the same standard. The ministry will also strengthen the implementation of the Electronic-Based Government System.
Fadli urged ministry officials to develop a strong sense of urgency in facing global economic instability. He said efficiency measures are not only about cutting costs but also about maintaining institutional performance.
The ministry will also limit the use of electronic equipment and official vehicles to reduce energy consumption. The policy is expected to help reallocate operational budgets toward cultural preservation programs.
The efficiency measures will take effect on April 1, 2026, and will be evaluated after two months. The government hopes the policy will reduce energy use while maintaining effective public services.
