RR.CO. ID, Jakarta- Indonesia recorded a significant movement of public transport passengers on Eid Day 2026, with numbers remaining high but under control. The Ministry of Transportation reported that a total of 873,916 passengers traveled using public transportation in Jakarta, Saturday, March 21, 202

Head of the Bureau of Public Communication and Information, Ernita Titits Dewi, stated in Jakarta on Sunday that train services remained the most widely used mode of transport. She added that despite the surge, overall travel conditions were still manageable.

Daily data shows that railway transport accounted for 364,649 passengers, including both intercity and regional. Air transport followed with 206,785 passengers, consisting of domestic and international flights.

Meanwhile, ferry transport recorded 177,564 passengers, while sea transport served 21,141 people. Bus services accounted for 103,777 passengers on the same day.

Cumulatively, from March 13 to March 21, total public transport passengers reached 10.88 million. This figure represents an increase of 8.58 percent compared to the 2025 Eid travel period.

The highest growth was seen in railway and ferry transport, reflecting strong demand for affordable and accessible mobility. Air and bus transport also recorded moderate increases compared to last year.

In addition to passenger movement, vehicle traffic remained high across major transport hubs, especially in the Greater Jakarta area. Hundreds of thousands of vehicles were recorded entering and exiting toll roads and arterial routes.

The Ministry of Transportation emphasized its commitment to ensuring safe, secure, and smooth travel through cross-sector coordination and continuous monitoring. The public is also urged to plan return journeys early, as the peak of return travel is expected on March 24, 2026.
