RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - The Indonesian government has clarified its position on financial contributions to the Board of Peace (BoP), a group initiated by the United States. President Prabowo Subianto confirmed that Indonesia has not made any financial commitment of USD 1 billion to join the BoP.
Prabowo emphasized that participation in international forums must align with national priorities. “So, we never stated that we would contribute USD 1 billion,” he said in Jakarta on Sunday, March 22, 2026, as quoted by Antara.
He stressed that the government has no financial obligations regarding the plan to establish the BoP. Indonesia was not listed as a participant in the founding donors’ meeting held in Washington on February 19.
“They each contribute, perhaps some more than others, but Indonesia is not among them. Because from the start, when asked, I made no financial commitment whatsoever,” President Prabowo said.
Nevertheless, Indonesia is open to contributing by deploying peacekeeping troops to help maintain stability and protect the people of Gaza. “We have stated our readiness to send peacekeeping troops as needed,” he said.
The government will consider other forms of assistance if the Gaza reconstruction process begins. “We have the National Alms Agency (Baznas), and previously we have also built hospitals and provided various other forms of assistance there,” President Prabowo explained.
Previously, Bloomberg reported that the draft BoP charter includes a provision requiring permanent members to make a minimum contribution of USD 1 billion, or the equivalent of IDR 17 trillion. Membership is granted for three years, with the possibility of extension by the board chair. ***
