RRI.CO.ID, Jakarta - Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto joined residents of Aceh Tamiang in celebrating Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri, performing the Ied prayer at Darussalam Mosque in a temporary housing area for flood survivors.
The gathering, attended by around 1,300 worshippers, underscored the government’s commitment to standing alongside communities still recovering from recent disasters.
Arriving at the mosque, the President immediately joined the congregation as the chants of takbir and tahmid filled the air. The prayer, led by Imam Tengku Junaidi, was followed by a sermon delivered by Zulkhaizir, who urged worshippers to treat Eid al-Fitr as a moment of renewa -- strengthening patience, faith, and solidarity in the face of hardship.
He emphasized the importance of unity and social bonds as a foundation for recovery, while encouraging continued prayer and reflection to endure challenges. The theme of the celebration was “Idulfitri as a Vessel to Unite Hearts, Strengthen the Nation in Faith and Devotion.”
After the prayer, President Prabowo held a halalbihalal with the congregation, reinforcing ties between the government and local residents. The event also included the symbolic distribution of aid, such as prayer equipment, Qurans, clothing, and approximately 7,000 food packages for families in temporary housing and surrounding areas.
Speaking to reporters, the President highlighted significant progress in post-flood recovery efforts. He noted that all displaced residents had moved out of emergency tents into temporary or permanent housing. Basic infrastructure, including electricity, has been restored in nearly all areas, with only five villages still facing difficulties.
“Assistance has reached the people, alhamdulillah. I am very proud and grateful to all personnel -- TNI, Polri, BNPB, PU, local governments, and ministries -- who have worked tirelessly to help the community,” Prabowo said, as quoted by Antara.
While acknowledging that some regions continue to struggle with severe impacts, the President stressed that recovery requires collective effort. His visit to Aceh Tamiang during Idulfitri served not only as a gesture of solidarity but also as a reaffirmation of the government’s commitment to ensuring that disaster-affected communities can rebuild their lives with dignity.
